Cottonwood Creek Dinosaur Trail is on the south side of Alcova Lake about 20 minutes from Casper. You'll see
fossilized dinosaur bones on your walk which covers 240 million years of geological history.
Fort Caspar has a collection of reconstructed fort buildings on the original location of the Platte Bridge Station and Louis Guinard's Platte Bridge. There are living history presentations and lectures during the summer months.
Gertrude Krampert Theatre on the campus of Casper College offers varied theatrical fare ranging from classics to modern theatre, and from farce to tragedy.
Hell's Half Acre with its multi-hued badland rock formations, is only 45 minutes from Casper.
Independence Rock & Devil's Gate were famous landmarks for pioneers traveling west. They are located about 45 minutes southwest of Casper.
Mormon Handcart Visitors' Center commemorates the long journey across the prairie by the Mormon pioneers. Located near Independence Rock.
National Historic Trails Visitor Center with interactive history displays of the pioneer trails that passed through Casper, will be opening the summer of 2002.
Nicolaysen Art Museum hosts works of local, regional, national and internationally renowned artists. Children will enjoy experiencing the world of creativity at The Discovery Center.Painted Past Enterprises presents two candlelight "Living History" walking tours - Downtown of the 1890s and the Sand Bar of the 1920's.
Tate Geological Museum houses an extensive collection of Wyoming jade, other Wyoming rocks and minerals, and dinosaur bones from area excavations. Several "please touch" tables of minerals and fossils provide a hands-on learning experience.
Water sports: Enjoy fishing, boating, swimming and other water sports on one of three area lakes - pontoon boat through Fremont Canyon, jet ski Pathfinder Reservoir, float the North Platte River, or windsurf on Goldeneye Reservoir.
Take in a minor league baseball game or an indoor football game.
Werner Wildlife Museum features mounts from Wyoming, Alaska, Canada, and Africa. There are over 285 birds on display and over 100 various species of Wyoming wildlife.
Winter activities include snowmobiling, downhill skiing, and cross country skiing.
